I can't believe that I almost voted for the other guy!!! Santorum GETS IT!
From the Bucks County Courier Post:
"...embattled Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has equated the war in Iraq with J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." According to the paper, Santorum said that the United States has avoided terrorist attacks at home over the past five years because the "Eye of Mordor" has been focused on Iraq instead.
"As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else," Santorum said. "It's being drawn to Iraq and it's not being drawn to the U.S. You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don't want the Eye to come back here to the United States."'Now that I know Rick has a full grasp of the complex and tenuous situation we face in the middle east I feel fully confident that he should stay in DC and keep on representin'! I can't wait until he rolls his 12 sided dice and tells us how to handle this whole North Korea nuclear weapons situation :)
Now that he's courted the geek vote I wonder what analogy he'll use to win back the women?
"Ya' know it's natural to flirt with the idea of someone new, but we all know that Carrie Bradshaw only found true happiness in the end when she stayed with Mr. Big....."
To be fair though, I can't completely disagree with his apt "Rings" analogy-with Rick as a senator I have often found myself feeling very much like a Hobbit climbing up Mount Doom. At least more than usual.............

Teen questioned for online Bush threats
Apparently we are a nation of red patriots and blue terrorists. apparently if you're against the war and the president's style of leadership you're a threat. yes, of course it's illegal to make threats on the life of the president, and those threats warrant a degree of investigation, but i really don't think that having the secret service pull a 14-year old girl out of class and yelling at her, threatening her with juvinille hall, for being politically passionate and against the war makes the rest of us any safer. In fact i think it mocks every principle upon which this country was founded, and further belittles the men and women of our nation's military who have been sent to iraq in the name of preserving freedom if we're harassing 14 year olds for exercising their 1st amendment rights.
As I said, threatening the life of anyone is wrong-but an anti-bush posting on myspace is hardly grounds for a visit from the secret service.
Make a statement!

I'd laugh at this feeble attempt to trick disenchanted (and apparently stupid) voters if it weren't for the fact that they presumably came up with this stupid idea after mis-labeling Mark Foley as a Dem, and then the "mistake" being picked up by the AP. Since mostly right wingers watch fox their audience thinking the democrats are republicans only serves to help the democrats in the election, but if other media outlets follow suit.....
well, on the bright side maybe it will confuse the crap out of people so much when they hear labeled republicans talking about a national healthcare system and the right of a woman to choose that it will lead to the utter demise of the two party system all together.
Then I can start gathering people for my new third party- The United People's Party of Americans Who Want Stuff but Don't Want to Pay For It and Also Like Trees, or The U.P.P.A.W.W.S.D.W.P.F.I.A.L.T.
I think it'll be really popular.
